Here is the story of War 2 before you watch it
In 2024, five years after eliminating Saurabh and Rizwan Ilyasi, Kabir works as a freelance mercenary for international clients. After killing a gangster in Japan, he travels to Germany to meet a new client but is drugged and brought back to India. There, he’s introduced to the Kali Cartel, a powerful criminal alliance spread across South Asia, secretly planning to infiltrate India’s government. Unknown to them, Kabir is still loyal to his country. Colonel Sunil Luthra had assigned him to infiltrate the cartel under the guise of a rogue agent.
The cartel’s first demand is brutal Kabir must assassinate Luthra himself. In a heartbreaking twist, Luthra orders Kabir to go through with it to secure his cover. The act wins Kabir the trust of the cartel and connects him to its Indian head, businessman Gautam Gulati. When RAW receives the footage of Luthra’s death, Colonel Vikrant Kaul becomes the new RAW Chief. Luthra’s daughter and Kabir’s former lover, Wing Commander Kavya, joins the mission to hunt him down, alongside Special Officer Vikram Chelapathi, appointed on Defence Minister Vilasrao Sarang’s recommendation.
RAW later tracks Kabir to Spain, where he visits his adoptive daughter, Ruhi. Vikram pursues him on a high-speed train but spares him just before it derails. Kabir ensures Ruhi’s safety with Khalid’s mother before vanishing again. In Yemen, Gulati orders Kabir to assassinate Sarang’s family aboard a private flight to manipulate the minister. Kabir leaves a trail for RAW, leading Vikram to him. When they meet, Kabir reveals his real mission to destroy the cartel from within. They join forces to stop the attack, but Vikram betrays Kabir, kills the terrorists, and ejects him from the aircraft. Before doing so, he calls him “Kaboo,” triggering Kabir’s repressed memories.
In 1999, a 14-year-old Kabir was left orphaned after his father’s suicide. He befriended Raghu, and both were caught stealing, ending up in juvenile detention. Major Luthra visited the center, inspiring the boys to join the army. Kabir passed the tests, but Raghu failed for putting self before country. Kabir moved ahead under Luthra’s guidance, while Raghu, feeling abandoned, escaped later resurfacing as Vikram Chelapathi.
Back in the present, Kabir tracks Gulati in Abu Dhabi, but Vikram kills him first, framing Kabir for the murder. After an intense chase, Kabir escapes and reunites with Kavya, revealing Vikram’s truth. When they try to inform Sarang, they discover he is the cartel’s mastermind, having faked his family’s death for political gain. Kaul rescues them, and together they prepare to stop Sarang’s ultimate plan.
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Sarang and Vikram plot to assassinate the Prime Minister. Kabir kills Sarang but spares Vikram after an emotional duel inside an ice cave. Vikram admits his resentment from their past but agrees to help Kabir dismantle the cartel. Kaul later announces that both Sarang and Vikram were killed by Kabir to conceal the truth.
Nine months later, Vikram is revealed to be alive, secretly aiding Kabir in eliminating the cartel’s remnants. The two part ways, vowing to reunite if another threat arises. Kabir, finally at peace, rekindles his bond with Kavya and assures Kaul that his loyalty to the nation will never fade.
War 2 is not just an action film, it’s a story of two men whose beliefs collide, a reflection of how duty and emotion can turn allies into enemies. Backed by YRF’s most ambitious production yet, the movie is set to be one of the biggest releases of 2025. Currently aired on Netflix.
